A Football Fan Site

Hello readers! I’ve been toying back and forth on what I want this site to truly be about. In the end, it’s really just about the passion and curiosity for Football and the cultures that surround it. “A Football Fan Site”. I love reading about the history of a league or a club, a player, a manager what-have-you. I want to see where a club is located, what their badge looks like. Their stadium, their kits, the trophies they’ve won, local rivalries, their entire history! All in one place. That’s what I want this site to grow into. I know that’s probably a mammoth-sized project. I can’t launch with that or it will take me years, but in the end, I think we’ll get there.

Football Data

I’ll probably need help. We’ll need other writers and web developers who are passionate about teams or leagues. They can focus on creating content around those subjects. We’ll need great data, for which I have already partially accumulated. I spent about a year working on a Statistics app myself which you can find on the Live Scores page. The vision I had, was that I wanted to start building a visual hub for Stadiums. I’ve created maps for Nations all around the World. Just to give people an idea of where clubs are located and what is around them. I think those maps give us a nice picture about the relationships between clubs in a particular nation. You can also zoom in and get some images of the stadium and maybe even plan some trips to see a number of stadiums on your next Footballing pilgrimage.

Football History

After that I want to dive into Football Histories around the World. Getting a picture of the biggest clubs in a Nation historically and a visual trophy cabinet that users can see all at once. This I think will require a database and an API. So work to be done on my part. Sure all of this stuff is in Wikipedia and various other places around the web, but I want a one stop shop. Users should be able to come and consume all of this content in one place with a nice visual representation.

Kit Culture

There is also the entire culture around football kits. I know there are hundreds of people out there will extravagent football kit collections. There are designers that love designing custom kits, I want kits to be represented big time on this site. Let’s showcase the best and latest kits around the World, create a history of kits for a specific club or national team. Maybe even a marketplace and a create your own kits around that we can actually make for people and ship. There are many opportunities. Licensing will be fun no doubt.

My Mission

My dream basically is the ultimate football fan’s site with all the data you need and also great written content by football fans for football fans. It’s a love affair that I hope will live on forever. A Football Fan Site, I hope you come join me for the ride.
